14 10 07

Dono posted something on my Facebook timeline and we had a fun chat about that.

Blake came out and we had a nice visit.

Barry and I marked off twelve days on the November calendar for road trip. He did a little happy dance about that.

Mama Cat wants a lot of attention this morning. Reminds me of when my kids were little and I believed that my love and attention were important.

14 10 08

We woke up, but hadn't gotten up. Moonlight had flooded the room, but was darkened now because of the lunar eclipse. We could hear Shawn stirring. I said, "We should get up so we can be sure to get to tell Shawn "Happy Birthday" before he goes off to school. Barry jumped right up.

Annette was cute, and sweet, presenting the gift she made for me. She folded the pages of a book in a way that makes a heart. She said, "I chose the roses for you," and that she liked the way you could still see whole pictures of the flowers, even when the craft was done. It looks like an enormous amount of precision folding and care, and when I commented about the time, she said, "I enjoyed doing it for you."

Beverly wrote me a sweet note, and is going to take me to lunch and to see the Sandhill Cranes.

Beth gave me a theme present -- a movie night, at her house, where she said there will be appetizers, and she put Champagne in my gift bag, along with some movie candy. She said, "And I made a definite time, so it can't just never happen."

John and Kim and Noah gave me a sweet card.

Shawn brought his girlfriend. First girlfriend to come to Second Sunday Supper. Brittany was the first to meet her. She sent a text to all of the girl cousins. Morgan's response: I"m currently driving 90 miles an hour down Schillinger.;-)

The girls all cooked and the kids helped set up and clean up, so it was a really easy night. Barry spent all day helping me, and took care of getting and heating up the Boston Butt.

Kim, going home with leftovers, "Thanks to you, I won't have to cook tomorrow night!"

Skyler, sitting at the table: "I'm waiting for Noah." When I told her about her ring shopping trip with Papa, she said, "Cool!"

Chris singing and vacuuming. Barry and I went to Rouses's to get groceries. When we got home, there wasn't anyone in the kitchen/family room area except for Chris, who had his headphones on and was singing while he vacuumed with the attachment that lets you get the baseboards. Barry and I smiled at each other, and watched him for a few minutes before he noticed us. Barry had gone back to the car for more groceries when Chris looked up and said, "How long have you been standing there?" "Not long enough to get a video to put on Facebook," I said. He thought I'd said that I DID get a video, and said "This talent can't be contained by Facebook. You might want to wait to post that so you don't blow Facebook up," and we laughed.

Mama Cat scratching at the door of the writing shack, to come in.

14 10 03

Been in L the whole time.  Daddy got tickets for a play for us to see while we were in Vero. He said, "You'll go in through the door and make a right and then go straight to L." When we laughed, he told his that he had specifically requested tickets in L, just so he could say that. During intermission, Kathi, Barry and I were together on the patio, waiting for Daddy to rejoin us. When he didn't come, we went back inside. He said, "I've been in L the whole time!"

100 times more dinner with Kennedy.  On our way home, we talked about stopping by the FloraBama, but also by seeing about having dinner with Kennedy and John. We were on a route closer to the FloraBama, but Barry said he'd 100 times more rather have dinner with Kennedy. Neither one worked out.

Tyler running back for a hug. Our first day back Kristen was still set up to pick Tyler up. Tyler was saying bye from the hall, and I didn't want him to miss his ride, so I didn't ask him for a hug. He took a few steps, and then ran back to give me a hug.

Not setting my writing timer today. I'd gone to a lot of trouble to carve out the days away from work. We got home a day early, and I decided to use that day for the "Writing Day Each Month." It was pretty wonderful to settle in here without having to set my timer.

I wrote something that made my daddy happy! I spent that day writing a letter to the granddaughters, to go with the jewelry I brought home for them. I emailed it to Daddy and he said very nice things about it.
And thank you for your continuing efforts in finding and sharing family history.  It shows your love for family and helps to bring generations together.
The attachment you sent is excellent and I found one misspelled word to let you know about, but now the download seems to have disappeared.  I will try to find it and the word.  You have created a really meaningful presentation for your granddaughters.
Love,
Daddy

Found it:  Last paragraph, first page.  Open toed heels.. I think you meant open toed shoes.

Beth came to see us! Felt like forever since we'd seen her, and I really wanted to get to see her before we left for Vero. I was very happy that she made the time to come by.

Josh and Tori got a dog! Her name is Zoey. I don't know what kind of dog she is.

The temps are dropping. Barry is taking care of the cooking. I finished month end.

Angela sent me an email with pictures of the wedding dresses.

Mama cat came over here with me but then decided that she wanted out.She was gone for about twenty minutes, and then I heard a scratching at the door....

14 09 22

Kennedy came! Kennedy had said that she thought she'd be in Mobile today and would get to come and see us, and sure enough she was and she did! She and John got here while Beverly and JA were taking their bath, and when they got out, they joined us at the table and we had a nice visit. Papa even turned off the t.v. and joined us. She has a lot of tests coming up, and is doing a lot of drawings and painting. I can't wait to see them!

We had a good time at Goodtimes.

Noah: "We don't call it 'Goodtimes for nothing,"

Brittany worked, and Skyler was sick.

Angela and Ryan came and we all sat out on the pool deck and talked and played Phase Ten. She said it was fun to just come and hang out for a little while. Tori was here last weekend and couldn't make it back. Kennedy kept in touch, but was busy wrangling with her washer and dryer. She said she thought she'd be in Mobile today, and that she would probably get to stop by.

Blake and said he was going to try to come. Morgan was in Atlanta. Amber came after while and sat out by the pool with us. I was glad Beth checked to see where Zak was --- turns out his truck is broken and he needed a ride, so she went to get him. He sat with us for a while, too.

When Evan sent a message last week, he was sick, so I guess he was still sick Sunday. Faith and Daniel didn't come, but Michael was here. He said he'll be playing the drums at a game this coming Thursday.

Noah was here, as were Shawn, Tyler, and Willo.

Noah has become a French Toast fanatic, Kim and John said, now that he can eat eggs even if they aren't in baked goods. He gave lots of hugs and pat-pat-pats.

It was the smallest group ever in the pool, and for most of the afternoon was just Willo and Rodney. She is all about her Uncle Rodney. She said his name so many times Sunday that she really was saying it more clearly by the end of the day.

Beth played Phase Ten with us. Most of the rest of the kids stayed inside, playing the video games, I think. Barry was inside.

Chris went to get Faith, Michael, and Daniel, and while he was gone, Willo started saying that she wanted to swim. She was dressed in her shorts, but no shirt. Beth told her she needed her bathing suit, and Willo told her that she was wearing her "silly suit."

She took her shorts off and asked again. I told her we needed her swim pull up. She said, "Please let me swim in this pull up." I told her would mess up the pool, and I thought we were done with the conversation. But....we weren't. She solved the problem by removing it.

14 09 18

Time with Beverly. She didn't have to be at work as early, so we had a little time to visit.

Andrew liked something on my Facebook page! It was a post about a book a taxi cab driver put in his taxi....If you are happy, write in the book what makes you happy. If you aren't happy, read the book.

14 09 17

Annette called. I just happened to be in the house, so that was fun. She called just because she realized we hadn't talked in a while. Had a nice little visit.

Beth stopped by. She was on her way back from Louisiana. The rest stop is closed. No bathroom. We laughed. I told her she probably didn't have any idea what I had to go through to get that rest stop closed. ;-)

14 09 17

Tyler took a school shirt, just in case.

Got caught up on weekly work in the office ... finished Tuesday's work by the end of Tuesday. Maranda is doing well on the weekly tasks, and she and Heather are accessing the project list. So, yay!

I'm almost caught up on the laundry.

14 09 15

Tori said she must really have Josh attached to this family. He was really sorry he couldn't come.

My turkey turned out really good. I just hadn't roasted a turkey in years. I hadn't ever brined one. I followed Alton Brown's instructions, and really turned out the best roast turkey I think I've ever eaten. The crock pot stuffing was good, too. Not exactly the way I remember my mothers, and not quite as good stuffing in the turkey, but very good. Used a Jazz apple in the turkey, by the way. The Summer Pudding was the biggest surprise of the night. The Meyer-Lemon cake may be my new favorite dessert.

Juicing night. Served left overs on paper plates to minimize after-supper cleanup, and then we started juicing. Beverly and I got a little system going on the carrots, and when JA came home from work he joined us in the kitchen, even before he ate supper. Barry showed us how to fold the stuff up into the bags, and showed JA how to work the press. Shawn came and hung around the kitchen, curious about the taste of things, and maybe about the laughter that was happening.

Four very lonely tables last night. Finally scrunched them in a little.

John, hug and thank you as soon as he opened his card. Chris thank you.

Chris, John, Shawn, Beverly and JA helped me.

Beverly, doing the dishes even when her legs were tired.

Willo... What's next.

14 09 12

This morning, Tyler talked about how much he liked sour things. He said that none of his teachers (3 of them) could leave a lemon in their mouth for ten seconds, but that he could. I asked if they had a contest or something. He said they hadn't, but that his teacher acted like she didn't even want to do it at all. He said the only time he's ever (made the face we make when we bite on something sour) is when he put two warheads in his mouth at once.

Beverly was with me on the sofa when Shawn poked his head out of his room. Beverly said hey, and you know how much I love you, and he came to give her a big hug and sat in her lap. :-)

14 09 11

Angela came in for hugs.

Minus the layer this makes me feel like a princess.

Barry...well that was a fun visit.

14-09-10

Barry said he likes listening to Beverly and I laugh and talk while we clean up the kitchen.

He and I took a walk last night.

Tyler likes to talk about science.

Fun conversations at the dinner table, with Beverly, JA, Chris and the boys.

Chris went and got Willo Saturday afternoon and she spent the night. She ran through the house, looking for everyone.

Maybe it is in a joy journal somewhere. Beverly was telling Shawn that he said lots of funny stuff when he was a kid, but that she couldn't remember it. He said, "Maybe it is in a Joy Journal somewhere."

14 09 05

I keep on getting excited when the door opens because I think it's Tyler. Kim and John got Noah out for an early dismissal and brought him here about 2:00, since Noah was staying with us while they went to Brian and Jamie's wedding. I got Noah set up, and the got back to work, which involved going in and out of the house several time.s Every time I came in the door, Noah jumped up from the sofa. Finally he said, "I keep on getting excited when the door opens because I think it's Tyler."

14 09 05

This view caught my eye ... reminded me of the times I had looked longingly out of that window, at this little red building, and wished for a writing place of my own.

14 09 04

Kelly answered my text.

Mama Cat is here with me.

Beverly, Beth and Annette, having fun at Goodwill, choosing their outfits for Brian and Jamie's wedding. For Jamie, because she wants some fun pictures.

Barry and I had a nice supper at Wasabi and then went to Fresh Market to get the wheat grass, and then came home and watched the news and then made juice.

He doesn't have pneumonia.

I got the liability insurance audit done yesterday, and without too much headache or fallderall. I'm beginning to think I might actually get to go walk on the beach Monday.

14 09 03

Schedule is running along well this morning.

Tyler, talking to me in the car this morning.

Had a good lunch with Virginia.

Blake came out to order his computer for school.

14 08 29

Found the sixpence! It was their special moment ... Barry's putting the sixpence in Beverly's shoe ... and I'd looked everywhere for it. Found it when I opened the box for her wedding dress.

14 08 31

Ocean Springs Art Walk. Way back long time ago, Barry and I stopped by an art museum in Ocean Springs. It looked like they had a little art district, and I've been wanting to go back for a long time. We went this Sunday. It isn't like the art street in New Orleans by any stretch, but it was a pleasant morning. They have a several cute little restaurants, so we have new places to go and try. I did get a couple of ideas for the pottery barn, too.

Zak brought his friends to swim.

We went to Fresh Market, so Barry could get things for juicing. I picked up a couple of things, but mostly I just enjoyed being in the store, and listening to the music, and taking in the sights and sounds. It was relaxing.

We went to Rouse's and got our weekly shopping done. I think he would have preferred to do something else, so I appreciated that he agreed to do this. I offered to go by myself, but he shook his head.

We also stopped by the post office, which will make today easier, and is something he is doing more of. Previously, any time I would ask for a "stop by" that would save me time, he had some reason why that wouldn't work.

14 08 28

Text from Angela, accompanied by a picture: "Humming Birds have been checking out my feeder and pink hibiscus lately! I wasn't fast enough to snap a picture w him in it but hopefully he will keep coming back like our little humming bird friend did  (smile)"

Ryan and Barry talking. Really quite a while. Working together on some kind of a project for Ryan ... power washing. Comfortable with each other.

Facebook Email from Kennedy:" Due to an unfortunate (but awesome) schedule mishap, I get to take drawing AND PAINTING this semester!!!!! I'm so excited and I love my art teachers! I did find out that I actually do have to take Drawing 3: The Figure though...

I'm not too thrilled about that, but I figure I have awhile before I need to worry about that. Hopefully some of my art from this class will be back on the walls and you can come see them! I love you both and hope you're having a good week!!!"

Swimming with the boys. I finished Thursday in the office without a lot of ... or any that I knew of... Wonderland Friday panics. Still an enormous load of things to do. Still a slew of undone things in the household sector --- like getting the phone line checked .... but no scary Thursday night thoughts. After "tea and the news" I asked Barry what he wanted to do, and he said, "I think I want to go get in the pool." I told him to get Tyler, because Tyler would love that. I had to hang up some jeans, but that didn't take long. I put on my bathing suit and joined them, but I sat in the rocking chair at the\\\\deep end of the pool. A few minutes later, Chris and Shawn came out and joined them in the pool. I sat in my rocking chair. I rocked. I settled. The evening temp was nice. The stars came out. The boys --- all four of them --- laughed. The had competitions ---- who could hold their breath the farthest, who could do jump the highest, who could do the most spectacular dive, could Tyler catch them? I tried to take a picture of Chris diving, to use for his contact picture in my phone, but just couldn't get it. So I got him to come to the deep end of the pool where the light was. "Be still, " I said. "It's hard to be still when you're treading water," he laughed. I just settled. I just enjoyed.

Miss Belinda to Beverly: "You know,  you have a very willing heart. " Miss Belinda has a very sick son. He is mentally and physically overwhelmingly handicapped and cannot do anything for himself. The doctors have told her that he has reached the end of his life expectancy. She told Beverly that when she was at the hospital the night before, she at least did not have to worry about about the stacks of things that had not been done, because they had gotten caught up on everything. I think that is because Beverly is such a willing helper, and said so. Beverly said, "No, it is because of her work, but she did say the nicest thing to me. She said, "You know, you have a very willing heart."

So Tori and JA have a thing about meeting famous people. Her contribution last night was to tell him that when she walked into (?) she saw herself .... a picture of her on the brochure for the Computer Science department. She told Beverly that she went ahead and grabbed one. :-)

We pulled the wedding dresses out, and found the sixpence that Barry put in Beverly's shoe.

14 08 27

Morgan called. She said she just hadn't talked to me in a while, and I loved that she took the time to call. She'd just come from her first International Studies group meeting, and they were assigned to specific committees, and she got marketing, which I think is just perfect for her. It is an internship, and her picture will be on their website and everything. She told me about work, and the mail cart, and all the new names she is having to learn, but said that the bosses are nice. And she asked how I was doing.

14 08 27

Annette's skin tests all came back negative!

14 08 27

Hug from Beth. We'd talked about a movie night --- to watch Gone With the Wind ... but she did n't get any sleep the night before. She had to get to FedEx, but she still stopped by for a hug.

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

14 08 26

Skyler, Angela, Phase Ten. So, Skyler asked if she could join our Phase Ten game. We'd only played one or two hands. She sat down beside Angela, who was still on Phase One. She'd never played before so Ange gave her lots of help. Skyler did well, but two hands later, Ange was still on Phase One. Skyler was all set to go out, and Ange was showing her what to play. The table protested, "Quit helping her!" Skyler protested, "Let me play myself," and proceeded not to win, but to purposely give Angela the card she needed to Phase.

Rest from school work. Noah, to Willo, when she wanted him to come play on the jungle gym with her some more. "I need to rest from my school work."

Noah, I need to sit by you. Willo, to Noah, who was sitting on the sofa.

"YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO GIVE YOUR GRANDSON HUGS. Noah, to me, as he gave me a hug.

14 08 23

John got a promotion. He said it was a surprise promotion...received a congratulatory e-mail before his immediate supervisors even told him about it. :-) He is as high as he can go in his department, but as he said, "That's okay. I'm making good money." I thought he had a good outlook on that. There isn't any point in being constantly dissatisfied.

14 08 22

Chris reading time with the boys. And it hit me, on that night that I was battling insomnia, that he had listened to me, and heard my heart.

14 08 16

Skyler got her red belt!

Hey mom so are you. So, Beverly was trying to figure out how to be in two places at once re: things the girls needed, and as she left I said, "You're a good mommy." The door closed behind her, I turned back in the hall and headed for the kitchen. While I was still by the table, I heard the door open again, and she said, "Hey, mom. So are you."

Pool with Beth. Beth came over to sit in the sun and we got to have a happy little visit.

14 08 12

Josh to Tori: I love the way you have your icons arranged. Just a little something I overheard on our trip from the airport to Mobile.

Blake's voice like Rodney"s. I don't even remember what he said, just that he said something in a tone that sounded just exactly like Rodney.

14 08 06

Chris happy about Beth telling him that he was doing good. He said she is very strong.
JA - cookie day. (JA to Beverly: "We get to be here for cookie day!"
Chris happy re the kids and prep.

14 08 08

Kittie snuggling up to me.

14 08 09

Skyler chair for Brandon. So, when we were at the airport waiting for Brittany (Annette, Skyler, Barry and I), we were seated at a table with four chairs. When Skyler saw Brandon walking in our direction, she got up, and pulled a chair up to the table for him.

14 08 07

14-08-12

Really enjoyed my little road trip with Josh. When we got to the airport, and were out of the car and walking in, he said something to the effect that to be honest, he'd worried a little about our trip --- about how we'd do, what we'd talk about --- and I interrupted with, "Me, too! But we did good!" And we did. It was a chatty, easy visit, and I enjoyed it.

When we were at the cafe, my contact started to give me trouble, and after I struggled a few seconds, he said gently, "Do you need to go to the restroom to fix it? I don't mind sitting here and holding down the fort. I've worn contacts before --- I know what that's like." It occurred to me this morning on my swim that he is just instinctively considerate.

When Tori came through the gate, I stood a few steps behind, and after they had a big hug, but while she was still looking at him, he said, "I'm sure your granny wants a hug, too."

A few minutes later, when he stepped away to look for the elevator, she gave me another hug and said, "Thank you for going to get him!"

He said that she is pretty clear that she wants to raise her children close enough to Angela's for the them to get to know each other, and that he is fine with that. That he had thought for a long time that you should just move away from family, but that he sees now that both ideas are valid, and it is about whatever makes you happy. He said that his grandfather, who lives in Florida, has invited both he and Tori to come stay with him after graduation, if they are still looking for jobs. He said graduation will be the hard time --- when what if their dream jobs turn out to be in very different places. We talked about graduate school, and he said, "If Tori wants to go to graduate school, I'll just get a job wherever she goes."

Morgan took $500 out of her savings to get a secured credit card. When she told me that, I said, do you realize what you just said? Do realize how few human beings who are your age can say, "I took $500 out of my savings..." I think she made a wise move, and told her so, because at some point, she is going to need credit.

She took the bed frame from here and has it all washed up and painted and looking good!

Rodney called to say that Blake might be coming to visit us.

Angela brought A Sharper Image t-shirts for Barry and me.

Beverly is loving her new job. "Okay, Miss I Have to Do Everything All by Myself," --- "Well, it's always been that way." (Her to her new boss.)

14-08-11

SomeTime in the Summertime was a lot of fun. I am more and more in favor of my idea. It was really more fun than Thanksgiving. For starters, I wasn't worn out from cooking and coordinating.

JA went and got the ice and iced the drinks for me.

Barry made meatballs for meatball sandwiches, and cooked corn on the cob. Everybody loved the meatballs. He helped me things cleaned up and ready, and it was fun for it to feel like a together thing.

He also fixed the volleyball net. We didn't end up playing volleyball though. The kids headed straight for the pool, and the big kids mostly stayed in the air conditioning.

Willo wanting Beverly to help her change clothes.

Shawn and Zak, hanging out.

Brittany had fun in Florida.

Beverly offering to help Barry with the difficult part of juicing.

14 08 05

Had a nice phone visit with Annette.

Tori saw Orcas yesterday. Said it made her so happy she probably won't ever be sad again.

Brittany is having fun at her doll-making class.

Beverly had a good first day at work.

Beth posted funny things about turning her hair blue.

14 08 04

Our little girl is home.

Beverly came here to help me with some things in the days where she was also job hunting. Barry said, "It is nice to have Beverly around the house again." I nodded. We hugged in celebration as he said, "Our little girl is home again."

14 08 05

Well, this is a little confusing, but I suppose I will sort it out. ... adding text when I've uploaded a picture, I mean.

I'm really tickled with this.

I bought the print back when I was scouring antique shops for frames for the family photos we had made every year at Christmas time at Sears. So, maybe 20 years ago? I've never had a good place to hang it, and it has probably been stored in a dozen places, but mostly in the closet in my office in the house. It makes me think of me and Andrew. There were several times when I thought I should send it on its way, but I just never could.  I was already tickled about the prospect of putting it up in m writing shack, but putting it on my clever bulletin board just makes it that much more fun.

I wanted a bulletin board for organizing my thoughts about my projects, but I also wanted not to have to look at those things all the time --- wanted to preserve the sanctity of the single task. When I was at Office Depot, and spied this project board, like kids use for their science fair projects, I almost laughed out loud. It is perfect. I have it mounted on the wall, and keep the flaps, closed like shutters, over the main board, unless I want to see it.

Barry figured out what the little droppings were.

Or, at least he took the time to come to the writing shack and take a look. We thought we had figured out what it was.

Tyler, wine cooler
And then back at the table,  reading.

Tyler, to me as we came in the house, back from breakfast at Waffle House: "And if you ever want me to go to sleep, just put me in the wine cooler." I had no idea how I could fit him in a wine refrigerator, as most of those seem to have very narrow shelves, and while I was trying to sort that out, he said, "You know, 'cause wine coolers help you sleep."

Laughing, hugging him, I explained that wine coolers are something you drink, not something you get in. And he said,"Why would they call it a cooler?"

He has some summer reading to do, and since Chris and Shawn were both gone, and he had a couple of hours before John came to pick him up, I told him there were two ways to handle deadlines, and talked about the times when things have gone wrong for me by waiting till the last minute, and told him that I thought he should take his book and sit at that little red table outside, and read for an hour, although he didn't need to read for an hour all at once -- read and swing and back to reading, which is exactly what he did.

My card from Annette

Barry and I at the Blood Mobile. Always his idea. Never mine. He always asks them how much blood we have to give before our family will get blood for free if they need it.

All the boys were somewhere else on this Saturday night. We called Holly to come to bed with us, but she went to their room, looking for them.

I thought for sure this Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow had died of neglect. "Bless its heart. It's alive!"

It wasn't the first time work has kept Brit from Goodtimes, but somehow when I was buying the snacks, and saw the brownies, which I always chose for Brit because she didn't like the nuts on the other brownies, I just felt sad. So, I pulled one out of the box and sent her a text, letting her know that I was saving one for her.

Tyler has fun in the pool, getting his hair wet and flipping it back to look like Elvis. Here, we were going for Doctor Spock.

Deep sigh of comfort at starting routine.  I had thought, Sunday, or rather felt, a kind of a burden at going to the gym and getting back in routine. But this morning, when it was time to start doing things, it was kind of a comfort.

Sun high and hot pool good temp breeze. Took my exercise in the pool, and you could not have asked for a perfect combination of sunshine, breeze, and pool temperature.

We had Goodtimes today. Beverly and JA were our playground duty.

Angela coming for one more hug. She had hugged me bye in the house, and then I had come out in the backyard. She and Ryan walked through a few minutes later, on their way to their car, which was in the back. She smiled and walked over, "One more hug."

Willo to Skyler: I like your pony tail. Willo was on the pool step. Skyler was in the pool near her, faced in the same direction as Willo. Willo said, "I like your ponytail!" After Skyler said, "Thank you," Willo asked, "Do you like my ponytail?"

Willo asking Evan to sit by her. It was 5:00, and almost everyone was gone. Willo sat down on the sofa, and then asked for "that boy."

You mean Evan?

She nodded.

He was standing by the kitchen table, and came to sit down beside her when I relayed her message.

What do you want? Do you want me to sit beside you?

She nodded, and leaned her head on is arm.

Are you tired, Willo.

One more nod, before she nodded off, I think.

Willo wanting to be called by a different name. "Call me Elsa." apparently a character in Frozen.

Evan helping with the kitchen. I was cleaning up the house, getting ready for Goodtimes, and Evan asked if I would like him to do the kitchen.

Card from Annette. I will have to find a way to save the words on this. Touched my heart.

Noah sitting beside me on the sofa. And long about 9:00, Noah came and sat beside me, and leaned on my arm.

Ryan: you can just count on us every time. Ryan came in so that I could write out my check to A Sharper Image and I asked if he and Angela were going to be at Goodtimes. He said, "Yes." After a tiny pause, he added, "You can just count on us being here every time. My grandmother used to do the same thing."

Bridge over troubled water. Barry and I were on our way home from having had supper at the houseboat, and were listening to the radio. This song came on, and I remembered being 20, and in that little apartment off Springhill Avenue. Singing that song out loud, loving the song, thinking that I sang it well, which I probably didn't. A good moment though.

Mike and Maria. Maria is from Argentina. I'm not sure if her husband's name is Mike, but I think so. Her daughter is due to have twins in just a few weeks. Her daughter and her son-in-law are both doctors. When she left Argentina, they didn't say anything to her about her being pregnant, but as soon as she got here, "Surprise!" I got the feeling she would have stayed in Argentina if she'd had any idea grandbabies would be coming so soon.
